WhatsApp Desktop now support voice and video calling

WhatsApp is rolling out support for voice and video calling to its desktop app, the Facebook-owned messaging service said Thursday.

Like WhatsApp’s mobile app, voice and video calls on the desktop equivalent are end-to-end encrypted, ensuring only the people conversing have access to the contents of a call.

As it stands, one important difference on desktop from the mobile experience is that, Only one-to-one calling is currently supported, although WhatsApp says they will soon add group voice and video calling to desktop in upcoming months after testing this one to one calling feature.

It’s supported on desktop version for now but, support for voice and video calls is not being extended to WhatsApp Web, the browser version of the WhatsApp.

Like the 100 billion messages that WhatsApp processes on its platform each day, voice and video calls are also end-to-end encrypted, it said.

A user need a WhatsApp account in mobile app in order to use it in desktop a user can not use only desktop WhatsApp unlike Telegram
